This site lets me indulge my obsession with RuPaul’s Drag Race. During Season 6, I tracked the number of Twitter followers that each queen accrued over the course of Season 6 in order to see if popularity (and changes in popularity) could help predict the winner. It kind of did. Actually, it did. It started as a spreadsheet that I shared with my friend Chad, which turned into a blog, which now gets 5,000-7,000 hits every week. I’m not the only nerd in the RuPauliverse.
I also predicted the winner of season 7, but it required more math.
On Wednesday night (Pacific Time), I tabulate the number of Twitter, Instagram and Facebook followers. Then I make charts and analyze them. It’s not an exact science, but it is a good reflection of fans’ reaction to the show each week.
